What Women Want is a series I started in college with my roommate. We only posted three unedited podcasts, but the idea has been calling to me and I wanted to breathe new life into it.
The goal of What Women Want is to take a critical look at what the narrative has to say about women and romance, what is desirable or excusable.
I am going through the book trying to notice a few key things:
- The Female Main Character’s self image
- The Female Main Character’s view of the Male Main Character
- How the FMC and MMC treat each other, particularly, How the MMC treats the FMC and how she moves past grievances.
- Family Dynamics for both MCs, how the inform the narrative
- Power Dynamics between the MMC and FMC
- Purity and Virginity Culture (if applicable, it usually is)
- What does the narrative as a whole have to say about love and relationships?
As I do this, I will pull out the examples I find and provide my reasoning to why I believe it informs a broader idea of love and relationships.
